Spotlight – Jim Hawkins
- What equipment do you use?
Cameras: I’ve placed with images from four different 35mm cameras and five different digital cameras. None of them are current “top of the line” hardware. My main cameras are an Olympus e-10 and a Minolta Maxum 5.
- What film do you typically use?
I like the unenhanced color balance of Kodak Elite Chrome film.
- What other equipment do you use?
Scanners: Again, good, but not the latest: An Epson Perfection 1200U flatbed scanner and a Minolta ScanDual III transparency scanner.
- How long have you been shooting?
Sixty years is the basic truth (since I was 12). I started shooting slide film in 1953. I didn’t think of myself as a “serious amateur” till 1996 when I started shooting digital.
- What is your favorite subject?
I like doing table top (set up) shots where I can control the lighting and the background. In the outdoor world I’m confined to our urban setting. There I do mostly “tight” shots to eliminate the clutter.
